My “Healthy Spotlight” Of Caveman Foods!

Before I start, I just wanted to Thank Elise in the Marketing dept. for all of your yummy samples!! You all ROCK!!!

As human beings, God designed our bodies to consume fruits, seeds, nuts, and veggies. Thousands of years ago, pollution, toxic chemicals, preservatives, artificial flavors and processed foods, did not exist. You could live off of the land, making it very simple to lead a healthy, fit life. As a caveman or cave woman, they wouldn’t be just sitting around the cave! They would be out gathering food, because if they didn’t, then they would starve. Today, we have to deal with man made fake food. It’s startling what is put into our food! It reminds me of how Frankenstein was put together, different body parts to make one fake thing! That’s how processed foods are made, different preservatives and artificial flavor go into making one product. Like I always say, “Read Your Labels” really know what’s going in and on your body. You have to become your own advocate to keep yourself healthy, whole and complete!

Caveman Foods are made with only natural fruits, seeds, and nuts, foods that only a caveman would eat, hence the name “Caveman” Eating more like a caveman works in sync with our genetic makeup! We weren’t created to over stuff ourselves with fake, processed foods.  Caveman Foods stand for recreating our ancestors primal diets from the upper Paleolithic period, about 50,000 years ago.  Eating this way is a proven way to improve your health, well being, and longevity.  Also you can achieve your goals of looking and feeling much better, plus the added benefit of more energy.

 

Today, there is a high rise of diseases and disorders that are plaguing our world, this can be avoided by eating a healthy, all natural diet and exercising!  More and more children are being affected as well, we are precious commodities.  Food portions are out of control and the obesity rate is growing at a rapid rate!  We want our bodies to run like a “Well Oiled Machine” not like a broken down Jalopy!

 

Okay, now I am going to tell you, what’s in the Caveman Bars, Almonds, sunflower, coconut, honey, natural flavors, etc. They don’t contain peanuts, are Paleo and Gluten free friendly.  My personal favorite is the Dark Chocolate Almond Coconut!!  It’s like eating a healthy snicker bar without the artificial ingredients or the fat and calories.  It keeps me sustained, and keeps my body going, especially when I am at work.  This is a great on the go bar to fuel your body!  The other bars ROCK too!! Caveman foods have not skimped out on anything, each bar is delicious in it’s own way.  They come in a large variety of: Dark Chocolate Cherry Nut, Cranberry Apricot, Cashew Nut, Apple Cinnamon, Maple Nut, and Blueberry Nut, and don’t forget about my Fav, Dark Chocolate Almond Coconut!!  They also have Chicken Jerky in flavors: Spicy BBQ, Chipolte Honey, and Buffalo Style.  Since I don’t eat chicken I could not taste it, but my family absolutely loved them all!  They said that the chicken jerky was really tender, and the taste was off the chain!  Their jerky is made from all-natural, prime white chicken breast and thigh.  It’s packed with 14 grams of protein that your body needs to build muscle.  This is an awesome snack before or after your workout.  I give it to my kids before they play a rough game of soccer to fuel their bodies.  Another added benefit of their jerky is that it is 98% fat free and has no cholesterol or added nitrates or MSG. Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) a flavor enhancer, it can cause a host of problems from headaches, rashes, chest pain, heart palpitations, nausea, facial numbness, sweating, etc. It’s best to stay away from MSG all together, check your labels and ask your restaurants if they cook with it!  They sell the jerky in cute little individual packs or larger packs.  Another cool item they sell is “The Dolce Diet: Living Lean”, this looks like a cool book on how to eat and live lean and clean!  I give Caveman Foods Two Thumbs Up!!

The Dangers of Chemical Deodorants


If you look at the ingredients on your antiperspirant deodorants, you may not recognize or be able to pronounce them.  They are added in there to prevent wetness and control odor.  The active ingredient in most deodorants is Aluminum Ziconium Tetrachlorohydrex gly and Propylene Glycol, these have some surprising side effects to watch out for.  You should always read the ingredients of everything that you buy, even in some natural deodorants.  I purchased a more natural deodorant the other day, and did not read the label because it said “natural” on it.  BIG mistake on my part, I should heed my own advice!  It had Propylene Glycol in it and Boy was I surprised!!

 

SIDE EFFECTS OF ALUMINUM ZICONIUM TETRACHLOROHYDREX GLY

 

1.  A skin irritant, a poisonous neurotoxin that accumulates in your body

 

2.  Aluminum has been linked to breast cancer, when it is absorbed it can disrupt our delicate hormonal balance.  This can lead to an estrogen sensitive cancer.  It can also lead to early puberty in children.  Aluminum blocks toxins from escaping through the armpits, causing them to accumulate in the lymph nodes near the breast.  When can result in an estrogen sensitive cancer.  Our bodies have lymph nodes that run throughout our bodies to detox, and release toxins.  So when we block our sweat glands, they cannot release the toxins and have no where to go, but to stay inside our bodies. 

 

3.  Increased risk of Alzheimer’s Disease

1.  It can damage the central nervous system, liver, heart, and can cause kidney damage.

 

2.  Chronic exposure can cause gastrointestinal disturbances, nausea, vomiting, headaches, and central nervous depression.

 

Propylene Glycol is used to soften cosmetic products because it has a slick consistency, for ease in gliding it on. It also keeps substances from drying out and was originally developed as an anti-freeze.  It is also found in some processed foods, shampoos, conditioners, cosmetics, and leave-in styling products.

 

When we sweat, we produce bacteria buildup under our arms, then it results in offensive odor.  Especially if you eat spicy foods, also onions and garlic.  Our arm pits do not get exposed to air too much, we can’t walk around with our arms up all day, LOL  ; )

 

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO STOP EMBARRASSING ODOR

 

Avoid eating spicy foods, Caffeine, alcohol , processed foods including onions and garlic

Take B Vitamins and Vit C, these encourage the elimination of toxins through urine.

Magnesium – when you have low levels of magnesium it contributes to sweating and body odor. When you take magnesium, take it with calcium because your body will absorb it better.

 

FOODS THAT HELP REDUCE SWEATING AND ODOR

1.  Drink lost of water, it will keep your internal body temperature lower

 

2.  Cook with olive oil to encourage digestion.  You will sweat less when your body does not have to work as hard to move food through the digestive system.

 

3.  Season your food with sage, or you can make it into a tea.  You can purchase a large tea ball.  By drinking and eating sage will reduce the activity of your sweat glands over time.

 

If you type in “How to make your own natural deodorant” into your search engine, you will find a host of recipes that may or may not help.  Everyone has a different chemistry make-up, so what might work for you, it may not work for me.  I found this one and thought that it might just work.  I have not tried it yet, but I will.

Mix equal parts of all 3 ingredients:  Coconut oil, Cornstarch, and Baking soda  Then apply

You can soak a cotton ball with apple cider vinegar and apply it to your arm pits.  Let it dry then mix a 50/50 mixture of cornstarch and baking soda to absorb moisture.  The apple cider vinegar is an antiseptic to kill bacteria.  I have not tried these yet, but will give it a good go.

You can purchase an all-natural deodorant, just read your ingredients.  They will cost you about $4 to $8, find one that will last a long time and stop odor and wetness.  I am still looking for a good one that works well, I will tell you all!

You can buy crystal body deodorants, they are made out of mineral salts called “Allum” not to be confused with aluminum zirconium (which can be absorbed by the skin). 

Crystal body deodorant is fragrance and chemical free, and lasts a very long time!  It won’t stop perspiration, but it will prevent odor by inhibiting bacterial growth.  You would just wet it and apply it, then let it dry.

A word of Caution, don’t smell it, because it absorbs odor!  My poor little fella made the mistake of smelling it and it didn’t smell like roses.  : (

 

The bottom line is always read your labels.  If you use these deodorants don’t swipe too many times.  I know someone that actually swipes 10-20 times per arm pit.  That is going overboard and should be avoided! 

1.  Don’t apply right after you shave, because your pores will be wide open, and will leach into your body quicker.

2.  Don’t apply it before bed, because it will be on you for almost 24 hours. 

3.  Never apply on broken skin

 

I still use these antiperspirant deodorants, but trying to find an all natural one that will block odor and wetness.  When I find a good one, you guys will be the first I tell!

THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF GOLDEN FLAXSEED

I am doing a “Healthy Review” on Flax USA, they are a leader in the flax industry and provide quality products with consumer convenience in mind.  Stephanie Stober is the President, and CEO of Flax USA, they are a 5th generation family farm in North Dakota.  Their golden flaxseed can be found in over 600 stores along with their newest product, Flaxmilk.  I am going to run to my local supermarket to taste that, it’s all natural, dairy free, soy free, gluten free and kosher.  They offer natural and organic non-GMO flax produced in a Kosher and Gluten-free facility.  Comes in vanilla, original and unsweetened and has 1200 mg of omega-3 per serving. The oils in flaxseed are over 50% alpha linolenic acid (ALA).  This would be a great alternative for vegan’s, and people who cannot tolerate dairy products.

There Ground Golden Flaxseed is one of my favorite products and I highly recommend it due to the many health benefits from these little seeds.  They maybe little, but they offer powerful nutrition for your body!

Flax seed can help prevent cancer, diabetes, cholesterol problems, heart disease, menopausal symptoms, inflammation, arthritis, and constipation.  To get the full benefits, try to consume flax seed every day instead of flax oil, so you can get the benefit of fiber.  Also, it is beneficial to eat the flax seed ground instead of whole because the body is not able to digest the seeds.  That’s why I love Flax USA, it is already ground.  Their company used a cold milled process, gently grinds the seeds without significantly raising the temperature.  This method preserves the nutrients, flavor and extends the shelf life to 22 months.

Flax seed is abundant with lignans which are plant estrogens or phytoestrogens which are an important nutrient for women’s health, vitamins, minerals and protein, as well as Omega 3 and 6.  Flax has at least 75 times more than any other plant food.

One serving of milled flax gives you 2,800 mg of Omega-3, contains 4g of fiber per serving, and only 5g of total fat per serving.

HOW TO USE FLAX

You can add this delicious, golden flax to: Smoothies, cereal, Yogurt, Oatmeal, Juice, Pudding, Muffins, Bread, Cookies, Ice Cream, Salad, Pasta.  This would be great to sneak into your kids foods, the great thing about the golden flax is that it’s hard to detect in food, especially in smoothies.

Instead of using eggs in a recipe, you can substitute them with flax.  Use 1 Tbsp ground flax plus 3 Tbsp water, let sit for 3 minutes.  This will result in a chewier version, with less volume.    You can also substitute flax for fat in recipes using 3 Tbsp ground flax seed for 1 Tbsp of butter, margarine, or oil.  By doing this, your baked goods will brown quicker.

If you have never had flax before, I would recommend that you start with 1 tablespoon the first week, then gradually increase to 2 tablespoons the following week.  This is because some people are not used to a high-fiber diet. Bloating or stomach pain may occur.  Make sure that you drink plenty of water.

I prefer the golden flax because of its pleasant mild nutty flavor.  Brown flax has a stronger taste and you can detect it in food.

Not only is the salt lamp beautiful, but it has a powerhouse of so many health benefits.  Years ago I admired the beautiful lamp, but never purchased it because of it’s hefty price tag, until I saw one at my local Home Goods store.  I got a medium sized one for $9.99 I could not believe my eyes, I bought it and placed it in my living room.

Salt lamps can improve the general atmosphere of a room.  You can do this by placing it next to a TV or a computer.  NEVER place it on TOP of the TV or computer, it will result in being exposed to 20 times higher frequency patterns than your body is used too.  When it’s placed on top of a TV or Computer the electomagnetic field is in approximately the 100-160Hz zone.  The result will be nervousness, insomnia and lack of concentration.  Also there will be more free radicals in the body, known to cause cancer!

The salt lamp binds the negative ions with the excess positive ions.  So when the lamp becomes warm, it absorbs moisture and the crystal will be damp on the surface.  This will build up the ion field.  The salt lamp emit negative Ions to their surrounding.  Negative ions kill bacteria, purify the air, increase well being, soothing your mind, and body, reduce radiation.  Negative Ions are found naturally in nature, like right before thunder storms, and waterfalls. HOW TO KEEP YOUR BONES STRONG

Calcium is responsible to keep your body healthy and strong.  It’s the essential building block for lifelong bone health. Calcium also helps maintain the acid-alkaline balance in the blood, protecting it against over acidity.  Without calcium, your teeth and bones would not remain hard and durable. You need strong bones to live a healthy, vibrant life.

Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body, your body needs it to build healthy bones, teeth.  Cows milk is high in fat and protein casein, which is hard for humans to digest properly.  This can trigger some allergic responses like asthma, runny nose, rash, irritability. If you drink cows milk, you can boil it first to cut down on the indigestible molecules.  If you are lactose intolerant, then you can drink alternatives like Almond, Soy or Goat milk.  I do not drink soy, it gets converted over to estrogen, or cows milk because of the added hormones.  If you are suffering from an estrogen dominant cancer then stay away from both kinds of milk.

You must get enough calcium in your body to avoid calcium deposits, this happens when the calcium gets deposited into your soft tissue.  If you don’t get enough calcium the brain would not function properly, and muscles would not store energy.  Also, your digestive, circulatory, and immune system would suffer.

You need to include enough complete proteins, in your diet to be able to absorb calcium.  If you are ingesting very large amounts of protein, you will loose calcium through the urine.  When you take Vitamin D with calcium, it helps it absorb quicker in the body.  For healthy adults: 800 to 1,200 milligrams of calcium, People who have osteoporosis should take 1,000 to 1,300 milligrams.  *(Ask your doctor what would be a good amount to take) Your body will absorb more calcium from food then a supplement.

SIGNS OF CALCIUM DEFICIENCY: Nervousness, headaches, insomnia, and depression.

How much calcium that you get in your body is up to you, you can get it through eating a healthy diet that consists of:

DAIRY: Milk, yogurt, cheese

BEANS: Pinto, black, kidney, white, and lentil beans.

NUTS AND SEEDS: Sesame seeds, almonds

VEGGIES AND GREENS: Green leafy ones, are rich sources of calcium.  You can eat broccoli, kale, celery, asparagus, collard greens, romaine lettuce, mustard greens, cabbage, brussels sprouts, etc.

HERBS AND SPICES: Basil, parsley, cinnamon, garlic, oregano, rosemary, peppermint leaves, and thyme.

OTHER SOURCES: Salmon, tofu, almonds, sea veggies, oranges

Add PRUNES to your diet to combat Osteoporosis, to keep your bones strong.  They contain high amounts of the mineral boron which have been shown to improve bone density by aiding in calcium absorption, and optimizes estrogen levels. Prunes are loaded with potassium which helps to lower blood pressure. They reduce inflammation, and have about 6 grams of fiber per serving. *You can eat about 10-12 prunes per day, about 100 grams to strengthen your bones* Prunes have a laxative effect and you should gradually eat up to 12 prunes per day, so your body gets used to it.  This will be great to eat if you are having difficulty going to the bathroom. Make sure you drink plenty of water.

MAGNESIUM, VITAMIN D, AND VITAMIN K: These all help your body absorb, and make use of the calcium you consume. Magnesium is found in nuts, seeds, whole grains, seafood, legumes, tofu. and many veggies. Swiss chard and spinach are excellent sources of magnesium.

Vitamin K: helps the body regulate calcium and form strong bones.  Eat green, leafy veggies like broccoli, brussels sprouts, collard greens, dark green lettuce, and kale. You can take a vitamin K supplement.

STRENGTHEN YOUR MUSCLES: Use weight bearing exercises – any movements that put weight on your bones. Example: Jogging, walking, standing up, sitting down, using dumbbells, squats, lunges, push-ups, etc.

People who have Osteoporosis and menopause, it is critical to add weight bearing exercise into your life.  In fact, it’s better to start exercising before menopause to keep your bones strong. You can regain bone as you build muscle!  So get out there and start exercising!

FOODS THAT DEPLETE CALCIUM:

Caffeine – If you drink more than 2 cups of coffee per day it can lead to calcium loss.

Alcohol – It inhibits calcium absorption and disrupts your body’s calcium balance.

Salt – When you consume too much salt it can contribute to calcium loss and bone breakdown. Avoid processed foods, deli meats, frozen meals, canned soup, pizza, and fast foods.

Soda – Carbonation depletes Calcium, soda is very acidic.

Very High Protein Intake: Too much protein can lead to calcium loss.

Cautions: Do not take more than the recommended amount for your age group.  Remember, that you are also getting calcium from the foods you consume.  Always talk to your doctor first before getting on a new supplement or increasing the dosage.

Get a high quality calcium, look for “purified” or “Natural” Take with food so it gets absorbed better.

Some people cannot tolerate calcium supplements and may experience side effects like: constipation, and gas.  Check for drug interactions, calcium may interfere with other medications and vitamins.  Talk to your doctor.

So the bottom line is, eat a clean, healthy diet, control inflammation, use weight bearing exercises, take Vitamin D, K, Magnesium, don’t overdose, avoid foods and drinks that deplete calcium.

FEAR


Blog #11

Fear is something that we all have built up in us, we all fear something or someone in our lives.  You may fear other people, things, places, fear of the unknown or even fear itself.  I define fear as: Something that is not real, it’s something that you conjure up in your mind that manifests into fear.

Throughout my life, I have feared many things, things that were not worthy to worry about.  Becoming so scared that fear took over my body.  Fear is only a limitation that you put on yourself, it can paralyze you.  It moves into your life and can destroy it, if you are not careful.  Sometimes we need fear to “Kick Start” us into gear.  To remove yourself from a potentially dangerous situation.  It’s our “Fight or Flight” response, everyone is wired differently.  Life has it’s challenges, we just have to look fear right in the eye and beat it for good.

You know when you have some sort of test, a school test medical test, etc. your mind starts wondering, you start thinking of that test, how it’s going to turn out, are you going to do well?  Are you going to fail?  You start to worry, then it turns into a panic attack, that’s when fear has already taken over.

When I battled cancer, I didn’t let fear take over, I took it over by beating the cancer with faith, hope, and a positive attitude.  I told myself everyday that “Everything was going to be okay, and believed that I would be fine”

STEPS TO BREAK THROUGH FEAR

  1. Know that you are stronger than the fear, (Inner knowing is powerful!)
  2. Take one step at a time.
  3. Face your fear, if you don’t stand up to it, it will always hold you down.
  4. Once you face fear, don’t face that same fear again.  It can be a vicious cycle.

When fear takes over your life, you become it’s puppet, it pulls your strings and yanks you to do the opposite of what you want to accomplish.

There will be new fears in your life, a fear of spiders, a fear of speaking up for yourself, a fear of other people, or deep rooted fears that you have carried around for a life time.  Those fears are the hardest ones to fight.  Change your mind set, and change your life!

FOODS THAT CAN HELP DETOX RADIATION OUT OF YOUR BODY

A Pet/CT Scan (Positron Emission Tomography)/(Computed Tomography) is a precise tool to detect and diagnose cancer, heart disease, or neurological diseases.  This kind of scan with the Pet and CT scan combined is an efficient tool in detecting cancer, two tools in one machine.

It is very important to eat the right foods, and to drink water  to detox the radiation out of your body.  Your doctor will give you a detailed check list of what you should do before receiving a Pet Scan.  The most important thing to do the day before is:

1.  Do not consume any SUGAR – also anything that can turn into sugar like, potatoes, rice, pasta, crackers, pretzels, etc.  Stay away from carbs.  Sugar is the primary food for cancer, when you omit the sugar you are starving the cancer cells.  One hour before your scan they will give you a contrast drink (Radioactive sugar), and the hungry cancer cells will attack the sugar and  the scan can pin point where the cancer is in your body.

2.  Eat a healthy high protein meal with lots of veggies

3.  Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water the day before and the day of your scan, by doing this the radiologist can better see what’s going on inside of your body.

4.  Wear comfortable, light weight clothing because you are going to have to lie still for 15-30 minutes.  If you move they may have to do the whole scan over, and you don’t want to risk getting more radiation then you bargained for.

5.  If you are claustrophobic, smell the sent vanilla, or Lavendar it can calm your nerves, do some deep breathing, close your eyes when your head is about to go in the scanner, think of something nice that can distract you.

6.  Don’t wear anything with metal in it, like a zipper or hair clips or and under wire bra.

7.  Ask the radiologist if they can pipe music in, and ask them for a count down to when you are almost done. Or you can ask if you can bring your cell phone in and play your own relaxing, calming music. When I go, my radiologist Scott, rolls in a table and puts my phone on that. I hope that everyone has a person like Scott when a Pet or Cat scan is needed, he is such a kind, caring guy!! Music can always heal your soul!

8.  Make sure that you are comfortable because you are going to have to lie still and you don’t want parts of your body falling asleep or in pain.

9.  Be prepared to be there for about 2 hours.

WHAT TO EAT AND DO AFTER YOUR SCAN

1.  Do not go or eat in public places, you are radioactive!  Stay away from pregnant people and children.

2.  Wash the clothes that your wore to the scan.

3.  Take a thorough shower

4.  Drink lots of water to flush the radiation out of your body

5.  Rest, you may feel light headed or nauseous

FOODS TO DETOX RADIATION

Apples – They are high in pectin, they can bind radioactive residues and remove them from the body.  Oranges and plums also contain pectin, but if you are fighting cancer, lay off of the oranges or use them in small quantities due to acid.

Foods that are rich in Chlorophyll –  it is used by plants to convert sunlight into energy.  Leafy greens, celery, parsley, bean sprouts and wheatgrass to name a few.  Spirlina and alfalfa can decrease radiation toxicity.

Garlic – It is high in sulfur, protects red blood cells from radiation.

Bee Pollen – Can reduce side effects.

Beets – Can rebuild hemoglobin after exposure to radiation and it cleans your blood.

Some more foods are:  Brown rice, kelp, seaweed, miso, rosemary, onions, ginger, and broccoli.

EXERCISE TO LIVE A LONG HEALTHY LIFE

We all have to move our bodies everyday to live a better life.  Sitting around eating junk food is not the answer, especially when you are fighting a disease.  You need a strong immune system to beat the odds.

When you exercise you feel better about yourself, and your life becomes enriched.  You have a better outlook on life.  Sometimes, it’s hard to mentally and physically start an exercise program.  You may feel intimidated to walk into a gym, you may not know how to use the machines or even afraid.  Twenty years ago, I was the one that felt scared and unsure of myself, you have to start somewhere.  You just have to go for the “Gusto” and just do it, you can talk to a trainer or the exercise room attendant.  They would be glad to help you out, my gym offers a free 30 minute orientation for new members to teach them how to use the machines.  New members are often relieved that we do this and they are thankful.  In reality, other people are going to be focused on what they are doing and not what you are doing.

TIPS TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF:

1.  Join a gym that you feel comfortable in, like your local YMCA or gym.

2.  If you are a woman and find it uncomfortable to exercise in front of men, you can join an all female gym.

3.  Start a workout program with a friend, you can rely on each other for support, motivation, and to be accountable.

4.  While you are working out, think of the specific muscle that you are working on.

5.  Make time for yourself, stop making excuses, the more you make the farther you push the gym away.

6.  Start slow, you can get a personal trainer to show you the ropes, or ask a friend that is an avid “Gym Goer” to help you get aquainted with the gym.

7.  Join a support group, this is a great if you need motivation to get started.

8.  Buy a book or check one out of the library on how to exercise or about the human body.  It is easier to workout when you know the different parts of the body, specifically the muscle groups.  It is a mind-muscle connection, when you visualize what part you are working out it is very effective.  By doing this, something great happens, *YOU START BELIEVING IN YOURSELF!

9.  If you can’t afford to join a gym or you just don’t want to, you can put together an inexpensive home gym.  Even though, I work at a gym, I exercise at home.  I have been doing it for years and love the fact that I can just wake up, throw on some clothes and not have to leave the house.  That’s what I prefer, some people may need other people to get them going.

10.  The 10th tip is – Just go into a gym and get STARTED!  Only you are holding yourself back!

TIPS ON HOW TO CREATE A HOME GYM:

1.  Buy some comfortable clothing made to workout in.

2.  Buy some 2lb weights to start out and work yourself up to a 5, then 8 lb weights and up.  You can also buy weighted gloves.

3.  Buy some exercise DVD’S that interest you, I love Denise Austin, Cathe Friedrich, Jari Love, and Jackie Warner.  These powerful women, I think are the best in their industry, they will motivate, push, and inspire you to get the body that you desire.  Pick the workouts that interest you, the ones that you will have fun with.  There are so many DVD’s on the market, kickboxing, yoga, aerobics, dancing, weight lifting, etc.  The key is to do a variety of exercise to keep your metabolism working.  Over time, if you continue to always do the same exercises over and over, you won’t make any more changes.  That is why, it is a great idea to mix it up.

4.  Buy some bands, this is a different alternative to weights and they will work your muscles in a different way.   Purchase a good exercise matt, and a step if you intend on doing step exercises.  I would not recommend a step if you have knee problems.

5.  Work out at least 3 days per week, mix up your exercises.

6.  Eat a clean diet, when you eat right and exercise you will be amazed at the results that you can achieve!

7.  Don’t push yourself too far, you can end up injuring yourself!  I have done this a couple of times and it was not worth the pain and suffering and not to mention the time that I lost exercising because I had to heal.

8.  Exercise with a friend, it can be at your house or their house.

9.  Just have fun, the more you exercise, the better you will feel and look!

It has taken me 45 years to realize that it dosen’t matter what other people think about me.  It is only THEIR opinion, it is what you think about yourself what really counts.  Nobody likes to be made fun of or left out.  Associate with people that lift your spirits up,  someone who will motivate and inspire you to reach new heights.  You will be a much happier individual without negative people controlling your life.  Do what makes YOU happy!

Be kind to yourself and rewind the years, instead of fast forwarding your own illnesses.

How To Get More Fruits and Vegetables Into Your Diet


Are you having difficulty getting the proper amount of fruits and veggies into your diet everyday?  Are you certain the foods that you eat contain the proper nutrients to sustain a healthy lifestyle?

These days we are not even getting close to the recommended servings per day.  It’s also hard to buy and eat all of those servings.  The amount that you would have to buy would be expensive, hard to eat and spoil.  Our society is becoming more and more malnourished because of processed, packaged, canned and chemical, preservative filled foods.  We have to protect our immune systems, to make them strong to fend off diseases and disorders.
